Warped Postcards: 128 DeepMind 12 Presets

Warped Postcards: 128 DeepMind 12 Presets fills one bank of your synth with 128 programs for Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). Warm keys, dusty pads, soft leads and round basses with a gentle drift and chorus character for lo-fi beats and chillwave.

The sound

Warped Postcards sounds like a summer you only half remember. Warm keys for lazy seventh chords, dusty pads with a gentle drift, soft leads for simple melodies, soft plucks, and round basses that sit behind the beat. Chorus and echo give everything a worn, sun faded colour without turning it into a gimmick. Made for lo-fi beats, chillwave and bedroom pop.

How it plays

Voice open seventh and ninth chords on the keys and play them a little behind the beat. Keep the touch soft: the played sounds follow your velocity. Push the mod wheel on a pad or a lead to change its colour, and hold one chord per bar under a dusty drum loop.

What is inside

128 programs in one bank: 24 keys, 20 pad, 16 pluck, 14 poly, 14 bass, 12 lead, 10 arp, 8 strings, 6 fx, 4 drone. Every program has its own name and a playing note.

A few of the programs

• Gentle Waltz (keys): A unison, hard synced hollow square through a warm 2 pole filter. A punchy attack. Finished with vintage ensemble chorus and plate reverb. Mod wheel opens the filter and brings in filter movement; aftertouch adds vibrato.
• Sunset Plateau (pad): A detuned saw and pulse blend through a warm 2 pole filter. A long release. Finished with phaser and rich plate reverb. Mod wheel opens the filter and thins out the low end; aftertouch opens the filter.
• Woolen Ticker (pluck): A unison single pulse wave with noise on top through a warm 4 pole filter shaped by its envelope. A plucked, tight body. Chorus, vintage ensemble chorus and stereo delay on the output. Mod wheel brings in the second oscillator; velocity opens the filter.
• Radio Hymnal (poly): A detuned unison saw and square blend through a warm 4 pole filter. It sits in vintage ensemble chorus, enhancer and hall reverb. Aftertouch brings in filter movement.

Made for

Producers of lo-fi hip hop, chillwave, bedroom pop and downtempo.

What you get

One zip with the bank file, every program as its own file sorted by category, a README with install steps and a playing note for every program, and the program list as a spreadsheet. Back up your synth, pick one bank you can free up and load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian.

Compatibility

For Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). The DeepMind 6 is not supported: it uses a different SysEx format and has 6 voices, so these files do not load on it. Load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian on macOS or Windows.
