The sound

Lucid Undertow is the sound of the hour after midnight on a good dance floor. Rolling basses that push under the kick, hypnotic plucks and arps for the long builds, wide stabs for the offbeats, sequences that lock to the groove, and big breakdown pads and risers for the moment the room holds its breath. Made for melodic techno, progressive house and afterhours sets.

How it plays

Program a sixteenth note line on a pluck and automate the filter over the build. Hold a wide chord on a pad through the breakdown and push the mod wheel into the drop. The arps and sequences follow your clock, and the played sounds respond to how hard you hit the keys.

What is inside

128 programs in one bank: 20 bass, 18 arp, 18 pluck, 16 pad, 14 stab, 12 sequence, 10 lead, 10 fx, 6 poly, 4 drone. Every program has its own name and a playing note.

A few of the programs

• Grand Growler (bass): A pulse and square pair through an open 4 pole filter. An instant attack, with a slow filter LFO. Finished with chorus and vintage ensemble chorus. Aftertouch opens the filter; mod wheel adds vibrato.
• Sprawling Ripple (pluck): A detuned unison square wave plus a touch of noise through an open 4 pole filter. A short, percussive body. Deep reverb on the output. Mod wheel widens the detune and opens the filter; aftertouch adds vibrato. Great for fast melodic patterns.
• Circuit Ether (pad): A hard synced full saw, pulse and square stack through a dark 4 pole filter with a slow envelope sweep. A long tail, with LFO movement on the filter. Finished with chorus. Velocity sharpens the attack; mod wheel opens the filter and brings in filter movement.
• Sunrise Stab (stab): A saw over square through a warm 4 pole filter with a fast envelope snap. An attack right on the beat and a tight release. Three tap delay and auto pan on the output. Aftertouch and mod wheel both open the filter.

Compatibility

For Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). The DeepMind 6 is not supported: it uses a different SysEx format and has 6 voices, so these files do not load on it. Load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian on macOS or Windows.
