Stellar Loom: 128 DeepMind 12 Presets fills one bank of your synth with 128 programs for Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). Long turning sequences, deep round basses, slow filter sweeps and warm string pads for electronic music that travels.

The sound

Stellar Loom is built around the DeepMind's step sequencer and arpeggiator. Long sequences that turn and shift while you hold a note, arps that circle a chord for minutes, deep round basses with a little glide, slow filter sweeps, warm string pads and drones that sit underneath it all. Made for Berlin school, kosmische and space music, from slow late night pieces to driving sequencer tracks.

How it plays

Hold a low note on a sequence and ride the filter by hand while it turns. Latch a chord on an arp and let it run for sixteen bars, then move the mod wheel to change its colour. The sequences and arps follow your clock, and every program answers to the mod wheel and aftertouch.

What is inside

128 programs in one bank: 28 sequence, 20 arp, 16 bass, 16 pad, 10 strings, 10 lead, 10 drone, 8 fx, 6 pluck, 4 keys. Every program has its own name and a playing note.

A few of the programs

• Silver Pendulum (sequence): A saw and square blend plus a touch of noise through an open 4 pole filter. A slow bloom. A 15 step control sequence drives the movement. Deep reverb on the output. Mod wheel opens the filter and bends the pitch; aftertouch opens the filter.
• Boundless Hull (bass): A detuned unison, hard synced saw, pulse and square stack through a warm resonant 2 pole filter. A tight release. It sits in phaser. Mod wheel closes the filter and thins out the low end; velocity opens the filter and adds resonance.
• Tender Mist (pad): A hard synced saw, pulse and square stack through an open 4 pole filter. A gentle fade in. Stereo delay on the output. Velocity sharpens the attack; mod wheel opens the filter. Hold wide chords.
• Spectral Section (strings): A unison saw and pulse blend through an open 4 pole filter. A slow bloom and a long tail. Finished with vintage ensemble chorus, chorus and dual pitch shifter. Mod wheel opens the filter and speeds up the movement; aftertouch opens the filter.

Compatibility

For Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). The DeepMind 6 is not supported: it uses a different SysEx format and has 6 voices, so these files do not load on it. Load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian on macOS or Windows.
