Velvet Arcade: 128 DeepMind 12 Presets fills one bank of your synth with 128 programs for Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). Bright brass, glassy keys, warm chorus pads and singing leads in the spirit of the polysynth records of the eighties.
The sound
Velvet Arcade takes the DeepMind back to the decade it was born for. Lush chorused polys and warm pads for the big chorus, brassy leads that sing over the top, glassy keys and electric piano tones for the verses, bright plucks and arps for the hooks, and round basses that bounce under it all. Made for retrowave, synth pop and 80s inspired pop.
How it plays
Play wide chords on the polys and pads and let the chorus do the rest. Push the mod wheel on a lead for a slow vibrato, and lean on aftertouch for extra brightness on the brass. The arps lock to your clock, so feed them chords and they turn into a hook.
What is inside
128 programs in one bank: 16 bass, 16 poly, 14 lead, 14 pad, 14 keys, 12 brass, 12 arp, 10 pluck, 10 strings, 6 fx, 4 sequence. Every program has its own name and a playing note.
A few of the programs
- Ember Sinker (bass): A hard synced three oscillator stack through an open resonant 2 pole filter. Glide keeps it moving. Chorus on the output. Mod wheel closes the filter; aftertouch adds breath noise.
- Starless Cluster (poly): A unison pulse and square pair through a warm 2 pole filter. A slow swell and a long tail. Vintage ensemble chorus, enhancer and hall reverb on the output. Aftertouch brings in filter movement. Comps well under a vocal.
- Far Wire (lead): A unison pulse and square pair through an open 2 pole filter. An attack right on the beat, with glide. Ambience, chorus and stereo delay on the output. Mod wheel and aftertouch both open the filter. Play it as a solo line.
- Pastel Drift (pad): A hard synced full saw, pulse and square stack through a dark 4 pole filter. A long release. Rich plate reverb, stereo delay and chorus on the output. Mod wheel opens the filter and thins out the low end; aftertouch adds bite to the second oscillator.
Made for
Producers of retrowave, synthwave, synth pop and 80s inspired pop who want that polysynth shine from their DeepMind.
What you get
One zip with the bank file, every program as its own file sorted by category, a README with install steps and a playing note for every program, and the program list as a spreadsheet. Back up your synth, pick one bank you can free up and load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian.
Compatibility
For Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). The DeepMind 6 is not supported: it uses a different SysEx format and has 6 voices, so these files do not load on it. Load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian on macOS or Windows.
Want all five DeepMind 12 packs? The DeepMind 12 Preset Collection has 640 programs in five banks for less than buying them one by one. More packs: DeepMind 12 Presets.
