Lowstring Static: 128 DeepMind 12 Presets

Lowstring Static: 128 DeepMind 12 Presets fills one bank of your synth with 128 programs for Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). Wide pads, tight sequences, sub layers and cutting leads that sit on top of down tuned guitars without fighting them.

The sound

Lowstring Static is built to live inside a wall of low tuned guitars. Sub basses that double the riff without muddying it, huge pads and strings that open up the chorus, tight sequences for the verses and leads that cut through when the guitars step back. The sounds leave room in the low mids where the guitars live, so they fit the mix instead of fighting it.

How it plays

Double your riff an octave down with one of the basses and keep it tight with velocity. Hold chords on the pads under a breakdown and push the mod wheel to bring in movement. The arps and sequences sync to your project tempo for those polyrhythmic intros.

What is inside

128 programs in one bank: 22 pad, 18 bass, 16 lead, 12 strings, 12 arp, 12 fx, 10 poly, 10 sequence, 8 pluck, 8 drone. Every program has its own name and a playing note.

A few of the programs

• Forged Dome (pad): A hard synced three oscillator stack through an open resonant 2 pole filter. A slow bloom, with LFO movement on the filter. Finished with chorus, amp drive and stereo delay. Velocity opens the filter; aftertouch speeds up the movement.
• Serrated Sinker (bass): A hollow square through a warm 2 pole filter. A quick decay with no sustain and a tight release, with glide. It sits in EQ and chorus. Aftertouch opens the filter; mod wheel brings in filter movement.
• Savage Ribbon (lead): A detuned unison saw over square through a dark 4 pole filter. An attack right on the beat and a long release, with a gentle vibrato, a slow filter LFO and glide. It sits in stereo delay and rich plate reverb. Mod wheel and aftertouch both open the filter.
• Diode Sonnet (strings): A detuned, hard synced saw over square through an open 4 pole filter. A slow bloom, with a gentle vibrato and LFO movement on the filter. Chorus, enhancer and plate reverb on the output. Aftertouch opens the filter. Play slow legato chords.

Compatibility

For Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). The DeepMind 6 is not supported: it uses a different SysEx format and has 6 voices, so these files do not load on it. Load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian on macOS or Windows.
