The sound

Titan Reels is a scoring toolkit for the DeepMind. Brassy braams and heavy hits for the moment the title card lands, slow swells and evolving drones for the quiet before it, pulsing sequences that keep the tension running under dialogue, and synth strings and brass that sit next to an orchestra or replace it. Built for trailers, film, games and documentaries.

How it plays

Hold a single low note on a drone and let it evolve; ride the mod wheel to grow the movement. Fire the stabs and brass on the accents of your cut. The pulses and arps sync to your tempo map, so they follow every change of pace in the edit.

128 programs in one bank: 18 pad, 16 fx, 14 strings, 12 drone, 12 brass, 12 bass, 10 stab, 8 arp, 8 sequence, 6 pluck, 6 keys, 6 lead. Every program has its own name and a playing note.

A few of the programs

• Rusted Tide (pad): A detuned unison saw, pulse and square stack through a warm 2 pole filter. A long tail, with LFO movement on the filter. Finished with rich plate reverb, stereo delay and chorus. Mod wheel opens the filter; aftertouch adds resonance. Best in long held chords.
• Hollow Chasm (fx): A filtered noise source through an open resonant 4 pole filter. A slow bloom and a long release, with a slow filter LFO and glide. Stereo delay, auto pan and dual pitch shifter on the output. Mod wheel opens the filter; aftertouch brings in filter movement.
• Mild Chorale (strings): A detuned unison saw over square through an open 4 pole filter. A slow bloom. It sits in chorus, modulated delay into reverb and auto pan. Mod wheel slows the attack; aftertouch adds resonance. Voice it like a string section.
• Dusk Hum (drone): A unison square wave through an open 4 pole filter. It sits in vintage room, phaser and stereo delay. Velocity sharpens the attack; mod wheel opens the filter.

Compatibility

For Behringer DeepMind 12, DeepMind 12D and DeepMind 12XD (firmware 1.1 or newer). The DeepMind 6 is not supported: it uses a different SysEx format and has 6 voices, so these files do not load on it. Load the bank with the official DeepMind editor app, SynthTribe or any SysEx librarian on macOS or Windows.
