METALTHOLOGY: Modern Metal Block Library for Fractal FM3 is a curated modern metal block library for the Fractal FM3 with 50 metal amps in two finished voicings each, plus 100 matched effect blocks, as drag-and-drop .blk files.

Every amp arrives as a mix-ready rhythm tone and a lead tone, each with a boost and an EQ curve voiced to go with it, so you drop a finished metal sound onto a preset instead of building one from flat defaults.

What hardware and software do I need to use METALTHOLOGY for Fractal FM3?

A Fractal Audio FM3 (original, Mark II or Mark II Turbo) running firmware 13.00 or later, plus FM3-Edit, the free editor from Fractal Audio. The blocks are stamped for firmware 13.00, so update the unit first if you are on an earlier version.

How do I load a block into a preset?

Open FM3-Edit, select the channel you want the sound on, then right-click the block on the grid, choose to load a block preset and pick the .blk file. The whole voicing lands on that channel, ready to play.

What is the difference between the Rhythm Tight and Lead voicings?

Rhythm Tight is voiced for palm-mute chugging - the tightest low end, sitting where a mix needs it. Lead has more midrange and sustain with less low end, so it never muds up. Every amp comes in both, and since a block preset loads onto the channel you have selected, you can put one on channel A and the other on channel B and switch between them per scene.

Will these work on an FM9?

No. These blocks are built on the FM3 and carry the FM3 model stamp, so they will not load on an FM9, Axe-Fx III or Axe-Fx II. The FM9 uses a different model identifier and addresses its amp parameters differently, so the files are not interchangeable.
