MODALITH open data: jazz chord statistics
MODALITH learned how jazz chords move from the Weimar Jazz Database of the Jazzomat Research Project. Its licence, the Open Database License, asks that a database made from it stays open. So the jazz chord statistics inside MODALITH are free for everyone, under the same licence.

What the data is
For each style, decade and key mode, how often one chord follows another in the lead-sheet chord changes of the Weimar Jazz Database (273 compositions). Chords are written relative to the key, so the counts work in any key. No melodies, recordings or song titles are included.
